Five-star Lucknam Park Hotel is one of Britain’s best country house hotels, set in 500 acres of parkland estate with a cookery school, equestrian centre, Michelin-starred dining and an award-winning spa. The hotel is a beautiful, symmetrical, creeper-covered Palladian mansion dating from 1720, reached via a mile-long avenue of beech and lime trees. Its public rooms are opulent and elegant, with a traditional country house feel making them warm, comfortable and welcoming, complete with roaring fires. They include a panelled library, a drawing room with a corniced ceiling, and the fabulously ornate ballroom, now 'The Park' dining room with a sky-painted ceiling and opulent crystal chandeliers.

The ubiquitous staff are not in the least bit stuffy, and good at anticipating your possible needs. The spa complex includes a 20-metre-long indoor pool, a substantial half indoor, half outdoor hydrotherapy pool, and various thermal cabins (sauna, steam room etc). A vast range of treatments is on offer, as are yoga and pilates classes most days in the Wellbeing House, a separate cottage in the grounds where you can also have sunlight therapy and a dry floatation session. Lucknam Park is a member of the prestigious hotel group ‘Relais and Chateaux’ - an exclusive collection of the finest hotels and gourmet restaurants worldwide.

Fine dining in the Michelin-starred restaurant

Head Chef Hywel Jones earned The Park its Michelin star and has been producing elegant and elaborate culinary creations for the past 13 years. Working with sous-chef Elly Wentworth, runner-up on BBC’s ‘MasterChef, the Professionals’ 2016, they produce simply exquisite cuisine. The Brasserie is Lucknam Park’s second more informal restaurant, with an open kitchen with a wood-burning stove serving delicious food, overseen by Lucknam’s head chef Hywel Jones.
